Southern Star Arabians is a small Arabian Horse Stud in New South Wales,
Australia, with emphasis on breeding superior performance horses along with good conformation, intelligence and of course, temperament.
Southern Star Arabians originated with the purchase of Twinoak Zahress in the USA in 1974.  She was a 3 year old at the time and had only been 'green broke'.

From the moment we saw her, we knew she was the one for us!  We had been looking for quite some time and had seen some lovely horses but not quite 'IT'.  The decision to buy her was a decision never regretted.  She was a lovely mover, with the wonderful conformation of a true performance type with excellent hindquarters, not often seen in Arabians these days.  She was also very typey, a lovely head, neck, shoulder, short back, good bone and straight legs, in all just perfect.

We stayed on in the US for another year and a half during which time she was trained and shown by Dick and Doug Leadley of Wisconsin who were excellent trainers and handlers.  She never forgot a thing, even after years of being a brood mare, could be saddled up and get straight back into it.  In fact she was virtually taken from the paddock to the Australian Nationals and won her classes under saddle, with only 2 weeks preparation.  She produced two Top Ten Under Saddle in Australia, Bint Zahress and Southern Star Anzac, both brilliant movers as well.  Her other offspring who were shown have also many awards to their credit.

A note from Coral, Lorri's sister and creator of this site.  I really enjoyed working on the site.  Lorri's horses are so beautiful.  I would also like to point out that most of the horse photos shown on this site were taken by Lorri.  The graphics at the top of each page are by Moyra, whose site no longer exists.

G'day from Down Under!
